Detroit Woman Taken To Hospital Barricading Herself: Police

DETROIT — Residents in the area of Burt Road and Dover Avenue on Detroit's westside were asked to shelter in place after police said a woman was having a mental breakdown, Detroit Police said.

Officers said a woman on the 9000 block of Burt Road suffered a mental health crisis and called police. When officers arrived at the home, she retreated to the home and locked herself inside with a firearm.

The Detroit Police Department’s Crisis Intervention Team, which includes mental health experts and negotiators talked with the woman and peacefully took her to the hospital for mental health treatment.
