100K Without Power After Severe Storms Hit Detroit Area

More than 100,000 DTE Energy customers in metro Detroit were without power Thursday morning after severe storms hit the area.

The strongest storms hit along and north of Interstate 96 in the region late Wednesday night.

The Brighton area and Warren area were also hit hard with heavy downpours and strong winds upwards of 60 miles per hour.

DTE Energy says their storm response teams are working to restore power to impacted customers "as quickly and safely as possible."

More severe storms are possible across the region Thursday afternoon as temperatures climb toward the 90s, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms are again capable of heavy downpours, large hail and strong winds greater than 60 miles per hour.
