Delta Flight From Detroit Reports Smoke, 1 Hospitalized

An emergency evacuation of a Detroit flight left more than 150 people using emergency slides and over-wing exits to get to safety.

DETROIT, MI — About 150 passengers and crew members evacuated on wing slides Tuesday night from a Delta Air Lines plane from Detroit after reports of smoke in the cabin.

Delta Flight 1854 landed at Denver International Airport about three hours late, after 8 p.m., but after smoke broke out in the cabin while the aircraft taxied, the plane stopped and was evacuated onto the tarmac, DIA spokeswoman Emily Williams told the Denver Post.

The 153 people on board used slides and the over-wing exits to get to safety. One person was taken to a hospital but other injuries were minor, the Post reported.
