Detroit Couple Charged In Abuse, Killing Of 7-Year-Old Boy: Police

The couple were each charged with felony murder, first-degree child abuse and torture.​

DETROIT — A Detroit couple was charged in connection with the abuse, torture and killing of a 7-year-old boy, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Officers responded to a child abuse report at a Detroit home on the 3700 block of Hurlbut Street, Sunday at 12:08 a.m. and found the boy covered in cuts and scars across his face, back and chest, prosecutors said.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died, prosecutors said.

Alisha Renee Hollamon, 23, and Avion Traylor, 21, were each charged with felony murder, first-degree child abuse and torture. If convicted, they face life in prison.

Prosecutors said the couple abused and fatally injured the boy, who was Hollamon's son. It's unclear how long the couple abused the boy before police became aware of the situation, prosecutors said.
