Detroit Deli Caught Fire, Little Damage, No Injuries: Officials

Officials said the Thursday fire did little damage to the Mudgie's Deli and Wine Bar in Corktown.

DETROIT — A popular deli shop in Downtown Detroit caught fire Thursday morning, damaging the back side of the restaurant, officials said.

The blaze at Mudgie's Deli and Wine Bar, located on the intersection of Brooklyn and Porter streets in Corktown, only damaged the building's back perimeter, where the wine was kept, officials said. There was little to no damage inside the restaurant, officials said.

A neighbor said he heard popping sounds coming from the building, and said he called 911 once he saw smoke coming from the building.
