Detroit Man Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run

Dajuan Raymond Allen​, 30, was charged with one count of Felony Murder and one count of Second-Degree Murder, the prosecutor's office said​.

DETROIT — A Detroit man was charged Monday in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 31-year-old Detroit man in October, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.

Dajuan Raymond Allen, 30, was charged with one count of Felony Murder and one count of Second-Degree Murder, the prosecutor's office said.

Both charges are punishable by up to life in prison.

Allen was arraigned and placed in jail Friday in 36th District Court. A Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for Nov. 17, and the preliminary examination is scheduled for Nov. 24 in 36th District Court before Judge Kenneth King, the prosecutor's office said.

Prosecutors believe Allen was speeding west on Amrad Street at 4:22 p.m. on Oct. 17 when struck Christopher Savaya at the intersection of Amrad and Syracuse streets in Detroit. He then fled the scene, the prosecutor's office said.

Officers located Savaya laying in the street with multiple injuries. Medics arrived on the scene and transported him to a local hospital where he died two days later on Oct. 19, the prosecutor's office said.
