Detroit Rosa Coffee Shop Opening New Riverfront Location This Summer
Detroit Rosa's signature coffee is made with Ethiopian Sakiso with hints of strawberry and roses.

DETROIT — A Black-owned and woman-owned coffee shop is opening a new riverfront location in downtown Detroit this summer, according to a news release.
Rosa Café + Market, or Detroit Rosa, is planning a new coffee shop at the Water Square, which is a 25-story glass luxury apartment building on the former site of Joe Louis Arena, according to the release.
A specific date was not yet released.

The cafe, known for its signature coffee that's roasted by a Black owned company called Faust Haus, plans to open an outdoor seating section that overlooks the Detroit River and Detroit’s RiverWalk, in addition to indoor seating, according to the release.
"Our brand is deeply rooted in the community and honing on its authentic Detroit heritage, this new location allows us to continue our legacy while embracing fresh opportunities as a Black business located on the riverfront," Owner Charity Dean said in a news release.

The cafe's original shop, Detroit Rosa, is located on Grand River in Detroit’s Grandmont Rosedale Park. The shop was named after Dean's great-grandmother, Rosa Malone who was one of the first Black homeowners in Rosedale Park and lived there for 46 years, according to Detroit Rosa’s website.
The coffee at Detroit Rosa is locally roasted by a Black-owned company Faust Haus, which in Detroit’s Eastern Market. The roasting company, which was founded on Faust Street in the Rosedale neighborhood, specializes in African spiced coffees, especially from Ethiopia, according to its website.
