Former Detroit HS Football Star Signs With Lions After Super Bowl Win
A Detroit native is coming home after seven seasons and a Super Bowl win with the Philadephia Eagles.

DETROIT — A Detroit native is returning home to play for the Lions after a Super Bowl win with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane.
McLane says it's a one-year deal.
Avonte Maddox, cornerback, played at Detroit King where he was a three-star recruit to the University of Pittsburgh in 2014.

He was drafted in the fourth round in 2018 by the Philadelphia Eagles where he has spent all seven seasons, including last season's Super Bowl team.
Maddox, 28, appeared in every game for the Eagles in 2024, primarily as a backup nickel. His coverage grade was slightly below average at 56.6 percent (145/222 cornerbacks), according to Pro Football Focus.

Maddox (5-foot-9, 184 pounds)has four career interceptions in 81 games (41 starts), mostly as a slot corner. He also has safety experience.
He joins a crowded Lions defensive backfield that includes Terrion Arnold, Khalil Dorsey, Ennis Rakestraw Jr., DJ Reed, Amik Robertson, Stantley Thomas-Oliver III and Rock Ya-Sin.
