Girl, 8, Suspected In Michigan Baby’s Day Care Death: Police
The girl may have tried to help crying 1-year-old left unsupervised for about two hours at in-home day care facility, police say.

MUSKEGON, MI — An 8-year-old girl is suspected in the death of a toddler at an in-home day care center in Muskegon, Michigan, Friday. The boy, 1, was found unresponsive in his crib and had been left unsupervised for a period of time, police said.
It’s believed the 8-year-old, who was being interviewed by police and a child psychologist, stepped in to assist the toddler, identified as Korey Brown, when he would not stop crying, according to multiple media reports. A 5-year-old is being interviewed as a primary witness, police said.
Police said a 911 call from the day care was logged about 6:15 a.m. Friday, but paramedics were unable to revive the child. Korey was pronounced dead about 8 a.m. An autopsy was performed Saturday, but results haven’t been released.

Muskegon Police Chief Jeffrey Lewis told WZZM-TV the case of the day care death of the infant is “one of the saddest I’ve ever seen.” The children in Collins’ care were unsupervised for at least two hours, Lewis said, and attempts had been made to conceal the baby, possibly by hiding him in a closet, MLive.com reported.
Lewis said there were no obvious injuries to the child, but his mother, Bryanna Reasonover, told WXMI-TV that he had bite marks and bruises on his face and bite marks on his fingers.

Keysha Keepers Daycare was licensed by the state to Keysha Collins in November 2016. The license allows Collins to care for up to a dozen children. The state department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs said in a statement Monday there has been no complaints about the facility. The investigation, which involves Child Protective Services and maltreatment in care investigators, is continuing, the agency said.
