Man Dies In 3 Vehicle Crash On I-94 Crash In Detroit

Police said a stolen GMC Terrain broke down on the freeway and blocked the right lane, which led to the three vehicle crash.

DETROIT — An Ecorse man died Saturday after crashing his jeep into a semi-tractor on I-94, Michigan State Police said.

Police said a stolen GMC Terrain broke down on the freeway and blocked the right lane of westbound I-94 at Lonyo Street in Detroit.

A dovetail semi-tractor was able to stop before hitting the stalled SUV. However, the driver of a Jeep Wrangler was not able to stop and hit the semi-tractor at 1:20 a.m., which pushed into the the SUV, police said.

The 34-year-old driver of the jeep was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
