Man Kills Clerk During Robbery In Detroit, Then Flees: Police

Officials said the man attempted to buy alcohol before fatally shooting a clerk and robbing the store Monday night.

DETROIT — Detroit Police asked the community for help to identify a man who police said shot and killed a store clerk during a Monday robbery on the city's westside.

The shooting happened at 9:16 p.m. at a market on the 20400 block of James Couzens Freeway near Greenfield and Eight Mile, according to police.

Officials said the man entered the store and attempted to buy some alcohol.

When the store clerk opened a door to exit the register area, the man fatally shot him and pointed his gun at another store clerk, demanding him to open the cash register, police said.

Officials described the suspect as a six foot man wearing a black mask, blue and white flannel jacket with a hood, black pants and black shoes.
