MI Reports Record 25,858 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Over 2 Days
The two-day average of 12,929 confirmed COVID-19 cases eclipses the previous state record of 9,779 cases recorded on Nov. 20, 2020.
MICHIGAN — State health officials reported Wednesday a record 25,858 new confirmed COVID-19 cases over a two-day period in Michigan.
The total amounts to an average of 12,929 cases per day, which is the highest since the 9,779 confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded on Nov. 20, 2020, according to state health officials.
Michigan also reported 338 deaths since Monday, including 232 that were identified during a review of Vital Records, according to state health officials.

As of Wednesday, 63.4 percent of Michigan's population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to state health officials.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer said last week that Michigan is in for a "tough four to six weeks," as the omicron variant overtook the delta variant in the midwest, including Michigan.

Wednesday's update brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Michigan to 1,507,338 and deaths total 26,988.
