NBA Legend Opens New Soul Food Restaurant In Detroit
The new restaurant's menu features many family favorite recipes and other made from scratch dishes.
DETROIT — An NBA legend is opened a new soul food restaurant in Detroit Friday.
Fixins Soul Kitchen, a restaurant founded by former NBA All-Star Kevin Johnson and his wife Michelle, opened Friday at 11 a.m. at 1435 Randolph St. between Gratiot and Grand River avenues.
The new restaurant features an 8,400 square restaurant with a total of 325 seats.

Fixins Detroit's menu is built around soul food, including many Johnson family favorite recipes and other made from scratch dishes.
Some of the highlights include deep-fried deviled eggs topped with candied bacon, fried green tomatoes, its signature chicken and waffles, oxtails, shrimp and grits.

Not only will the new restaurant will also celebrate African American culture and traditions, but also redefine the American soul food experience with a modern vibe.
Fixins Detroit is located in the Paradise Valley neighborhood. The area was once a booming business district and entertainment center in the 1920s through the 1950s, and home to the popular and thriving Black residential neighborhood known as Black Bottom.
