What's on the list (freep.com subscription) — Detroit residents serving on the Neighborhood Advisory Council have proposed roughly $40 million in community benefits tied to the massive $2.2 billion Renaissance Center redevelopment, including housing, home repair, small-business support, and RiverWalk access. Developers Bedrock and GM must now respond to this extensive wish list, which could become one of Detroit's largest community benefits packages if approved.

3. Prest Street residents push for neighborhood association, blight removal after mass shooting (clickondetroit.com) — Neighbors on Prest Street in Detroit are organizing a new neighborhood association and demanding blight cleanup after a mass shooting at an alleged illegal after-hours spot killed three people and injured four. Community group Detroit 300 and city officials are canvassing the area, holding meetings, and encouraging residents to speak up and work together to improve safety.
   

4. Driverless cars hit the streets of downtown Detroit as Waymo begins its fully autonomous phase (wxyz.com) — Fully driverless Waymo cars are beginning test rides on downtown Detroit streets, with the city coordinating closely to ensure police, fire, and mobility officials are ready. Residents are reacting with a mix of excitement and nerves as Detroit becomes Waymo's 11th city and a key cold‑weather testing ground for autonomous ride-hailing.
