Popular Detroit Korean-American Restaurant Suddenly Closes

The restaurant closed after just five months of service following a dispute with the property, according to an Instagram post​.

DETROIT — A popular and upcoming Korean-American restaurant in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood suddenly shut down last Thursday.

Black Ginger, best-known for Korean cuisine, closed after just five months of service following a dispute with the property, according to an Instagram post.

"Due to a dispute with the property, Black Ginger is unfortunately closing our doors," the post read. "We apologize for any inconvenience this causes, and we thank you for all your support and enthusiasm for our food and staff these past five months."

The post also alluded to a possible comeback sometime in the future and asked customers to stay tuned for updates.

The restaurant was located at 1331 Trumbull in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood. Its menu featured many popular Korean dishes, including a boneless Korean fried chicken painted with a sweet and sticky sauce served with a cabbage slaw and sesame vinaigrette.

The restaurant also had a full bar program with liquor and beer from around the world, including Korean rice wine Soju.
