Popular Detroit Sports Anchor Leaving News Station After 15 Years

The popular sports anchor says he's "really excited for what's next."

DETROIT — Longtime Detroit sports anchor Brad Galli announced he is leaving WXYZ after 15 years. His last day is May 1.

Galli said the decision to leave was his and added, "I'm really excited for what's next."

"As far as what's next in my career, I'm excited to work more independently in this new chapter, sharing my work in new places that allow me to be around more often at night with my wife and kids," Galli wrote in a message posted to social media. "I'm going to continue with the same work ethic, and creativity that so many of you have helped me foster. It's been an honor and I have no doubt that my friendships will endure."
