Powerful Winter Storm Cancels Departures At Detroit Airport
If you're planning to fly out of the Detroit Metropolitan Airport to points east, check your flight schedule before you leave home.

DETROIT, MI — Dozens of flights departing the Detroit Metropolitan Airport for points east have been delayed or cancelled Tuesday as a powerful winter storm moves into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. So far, Wednesday’s schedule is on time, but the flight problems could be extended.
According to the latest update from the National Weather Service, a powerful nor'easter will bring very heavy snow, ice, strong winds and dangerous travel conditions from the Middle Atlantic to New England through Tuesday. Anywhere between 12-18 inches of snow is expected from the northern Mid-Atlantic to Southern New England with as much as 2 feet of snow possible in some major cities.
Major U.S. airlines have cancelled thousands of flights across the Northeast in preparation for snow and whiteout conditions. Major airlines, including United, American and Southwest, have announced information regarding travel waivers that passengers can use to reschedule their planned travel should their flights be affected.
