Random Act Of Kindness Day Came Early At Detroit Diner

A stranger paid for diners' breakfast, then quietly slipped out the door, though Random Acts of Kindness Day isn't until Friday, Feb. 17.

DETROIT, MI — So, a stranger walked into a Detroit diner Saturday. No, it’s not a set-up to a joke, but a random act of kindness that was about to take place.

After eating breakfast, the stranger “secretly bought a morning meal for everyone,” the Detroit Parks & Rec Diner, 1942 Grand River Ave., wrote on its Facebook page. “Our remaining guests were surprised to discover that their bills had been paid when they asked for their tabs,” including a gratuity for the server, and “then just slipped out the door.”

The benefactor didn’t want to be named.

“We are touched by the generosity of strangers and love the ‘Pay It Forward’ spirit making Detroit a special place,” according to the post.

The staff members at Parks & Rec Diner are “over the moon” about the gesture, according to the post.
