Rochester Man Scammed Airport Out Of $1.5 Million: Report

A Rochester man is being accused of pocketing money for a de-icer in DTW's parking deck, but never applying the substance.

ROCHESTER, MI — A Rochester man has allegedly swindled the Detroit Metropolitan Airport out of more than $1 million, according to a media report.

The FBI and Airport Authority say Gary Tenaglia, a high-profile Metro Detroit businessman, was contracted to apply a substance called NAAC to the 6,500-space Big Blue Deck at Detroit Metro Airport's North Terminal during some wintry weather, WDIV reported.

Documents reportedly show that Tenaglia collected $1.5 million in 2011 to do so, but never ordered the de-icer. He is accused of pocketing the cash and has been charged with wire fraud. He is awaiting arraignment.
