'Serial Arsonist' Charged In Connection To Detroit Fires: Report

A man accused of setting several fires in Detroit's Virginia Park neighborhood was arrested by police Friday, multiple reports said.

DETROIT — A man accused of setting several fires in Detroit's Virginia Park neighborhood and surrounding areas was arrested by police Friday, according to multiple reports.

Andrael Davis, 30, was charged with five felony counts of arson and five misdemeanor counts of arson, officials said. Overall, authorities have linked Davis to nine fires and was placed in the Wayne County Jail.

"For the past year, the Virginia Park neighborhood has been on edge as major efforts are being made to revitalize the community," Detroit Fire Commissioner Chuck Simms said. "It’s my hope that the arrest of Mr. Davis will bring peace of mind to the residents here and allow the neighborhood’s revitalization efforts to flourish."
