DETROIT — A southern-style Detroit restaurant is moving to a new location in Eastern Market, according to a news release.

Louisiana Creole Gumbo is moving to 2830 Gratiot Ave., on the corner of Gratiot and Joseph Campau avenues, according to a news release.

The new spot will be bigger and include a sit-down area, a tasting kitchen, two outdoor patios, and live entertainment, as well as a liquor license, according to a news release. It is expected to open Wednesday, Nov. 15.

The new location is a sign "economic growth and job creation and an example of how businesses are taking advantage of the gentrification of one of the city’s hottest spots to incubate the resurgence of a neighborhood nearby," according to a news release.

The new spot is just a few blocks away from its original location, which was at 2051 Gratiot Ave. The restaurant opened at the location in 1970, but owner Joe Spencer said he was being forced out of the spot due to gentrification. Eastern Market has seen an influx in development in recent years.
