"We're very excited to continue the concerts," said Shawn Personke, director of activities and public relations for Silver Maples. "When we wrote the initial grant in 2008, we thought that it would be a welcome opportunity, but we really had no idea how popular they would be.  The free tickets go like wildfire and we have a full house for every show."

The series was originally funded for two years. This year, it was re-funded for a third year, with the stipulation that it eventually becomes self sufficient.

"Like many foundations, our grantors felt that something of this nature really needed to be self-sustainable. To that end, many community members and businesses stepped up to the plate and pledged to support the series," Personke said.

The concerts are held the third Tuesday of each month, September through May at Silver Maples. Tickets are required, as seating is limited. Tickets are available at the Chelsea Senior Center.

The Picks and Sticks String Band will take to the stage at 7 p.m.
