Modern Vintage is stuffed with collections of eclectic, wildly colorful, exciting and "different" handbags with some wallets to match. Amber Sears has also carefully selected a wide variety of hats for all occasions. From fancy faux fur hats to blingy ball caps, she has it all.
The mother-daughter team said the Main Street location became available at the perfect time for them. The duo also owns Modern Vintage in Brighton, which opened in August. That store is closed for emergency remodeling due to a construction accident in a neighboring business. But the unexpected and temporary closing has not deterred the businesswomen.

“I am a born shopkeeper,” Amber Sears said of her dedication to her business.
She plans to run the Brighton store when it reopens, and her mother will run the Dexter boutique.
After the remodeling accident at the Brighton location, Amber moved the business to a temporary space while scouting other locations.
“I love this space,” she said.
The Dexter resident opened her first boutique, Frivolities, nine years ago in Dexter. The original store was located in the Dexter Crossing center from 2002-2010. Sears also ran Frivolities Downtown from 2008-2009.
“Modern Vintage is for anyone who is young at heart and likes a pretty bag,” she said. “We are very affordable, and you won’t break the bank."
Sears and her mother are excited about their new location downtown and are planning a grand opening.
The store's hours are 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information or to see pictures of the boutique, visit the store's Facebook page.
