Venezuelan gang member sentenced to deportation in Dexter ATM theft case (mlive.com) — A Venezuelan man tied to the Tren de Aragua gang has been deported after admitting he helped attempt an ATM "jackpotting" theft at Chelsea State Bank on Dexter-Ann Arbor Road in Dexter. He received time served, must repay more than $7,000 in damages, and is barred from reentering the U.S., while details describe the late-night chase and fatal crash that ended the scheme.
   

4. Enrollment analysis: Asian students accounted for 3.7% of Wylie Elementary's enrollment in 2024-25 (annarbortimes.com) — Wylie Elementary, part of Dexter Community Schools, enrolled 18 Asian students in 2024-25, making up 3.7% of its 486-student body and marking a 50% increase from last year. The report compares a decade of enrollment trends by ethnicity, situates Wylie within the district's six schools, and notes broader statewide academic and achievement-gap challenges that also frame Dexter's educational landscape.
   

5. Dexter Firefighters Respond to the Inverness Tavern (thesuntimesnews.com) — Dexter Area firefighters quickly contained a small rooftop fire at the Inverness Tavern on Sept. 8 after smoke was detected inside, and no one was injured. Officials say malfunctioning rooftop heating mats likely ignited part of the roof membrane, and they're using the incident to remind residents to maintain working smoke alarms and call 911 promptly.
