Photo Gallery: Mostly Music Camp Introduces Youths to the Arts

The camp's name emphasizes its goal to focus on several aspects of the performing arts.

The halls of Grace Bible Church were alive with music and singing on Thursday as part of the 17th annual Mostly Music Camp.

“Our camp is different than most traditional summer camps,” director Merilee Magnuson of Dexter said. “We have workshops that are tailored toward specific age groups so that everyone can enjoy music and music-related activities.”

The camp is open to all children from preschool through seventh grade. Magnuson said the camp’s name emphasizes its goal to focus on several aspects of the performing arts.

"The camp isn't just about music," she said. "Anyone who wants their children to experience the arts is welcome."

Workshops at the camp are taught by trained members of the Ann Arbor Piano Teachers Guild and include “Adventures in Music” (age 4 through kindergarten); “Fun with Music” (first and second grade); “Movin' and Groovin'” (age 6 through third grade); “Get Ready, Get Set, Go!” (second and third grade); “Creative Music Exploration” (third through sixth grade); “Puppets Alive!” (fourth through sixth grade); and “Discovery at the Piano” (fourth through seventh grade).

The camp concludes Friday. For information on next year's program, visit the Mostly Music Camp website.
