Police Blotter: Sheriff Receives Numerous Suspicious Person Calls

Here is a look at calls to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department from May 13 through Sunday.

Suspicious persons

  • On Sunday, deputies with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to Mill Creek Middle School in response to a complaint of five suspicious people. Upon arrival, the deputies were unable to locate the individuals.
  • On Thursday at approximately 7 p.m., two women were walking in the area of Bell Road and West Huron River Drive when an unknown man approached them from a wooded area and asked them to stop so he could talk to them. According to police, the man is described as 5 feet 10 inches, approximately 50 with a full beard, and he was wearing a gray sweatshirt, dark pants and a dark-color baseball cap. 

Trespassing

On Friday, deputies were dispatched to the area of Strawberry Lake and West Huron River Drive in response to a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, deputies were unable to make contact with the individuals, according to reports.

Hit and run

On May 17, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Forest and Broad streets for a hit-and-run complaint. The owner of a 1999 Ford Contour reported that her vehicle had been struck while it was parked on the street. According to reports, a witness reported seeing a green SUV with a male driver about 20 years old leaving the area of the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dexter substation at 734-426-0228.

Disorderly conduct

On May 13 deputies were dispatched to the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dexter in response to a disorderly conduct complaint. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a group of teenagers and cited one teen for minor in possession of alcohol.

In addition to the above listed reports, Sgt. Beth Gieske said the department continues to receive numerous suspicious person complaints.

"We have received several reports of suspicious vehicles and persons in Webster Township over the past two weeks. All of these reports have involved salespeople in the area," she said. "We appreciate the fact that individuals are monitoring and reporting suspicious circumstances where they live and travel. Continue to report any suspicious activities to 911."
