Youth Dance Theatre Performs 'Swan Lake' April 21-22
Students from Chelsea and Dexter will perform in the classic ballet, which will be performed at Chelsea High School.

The lights had barely dimmed on another successful production of The Nutcracker in December, when dancers from Chelsea’s Youth Dance Theatre (YDT) began rehearsals for their upcoming production of Swan Lake.
The ballet is a significant undertaking for the young dancers of YDT. It tells the story of Odette, who under the spell of the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart, must live as a swan by day. The spell cannot be broken until Odette finds everlasting and loyal love.

Odette is discovered by Prince Siegfried, who dances with her and pledges his love. At a lavish party with dances from around the world, the king and queen hope Price Siegfried will find a bride. Instead, he is tricked by Von Rothbart and his daughter Odile, who resembles Odette. As the prince tells all that he will marry Odile, his pledge to Odette is broken, leaving her a swan forever.
The ballet combines mystery, tension, and the beauty of dance to tell a timeless story. Will good conquer evil? Will true love win out in the end?
