2 Dead After Head-On Crash During Oakland County Police Chase: MSP
Troopers tried stopping a stolen pickup truck before the suspected thief sped away, eventually smashing into an SUV, police said.

SOUTHFIELD, MI — Two people were killed in a Saturday morning head-on crash in Oakland County during a police chase, according to Michigan State Police.
At 1:30 a.m., troopers found a 2006 Ford Super Duty pickup truck that was reported stolen in the back of a gas station on 8 Mile Road, police said.
The suspected thief in the pickup truck backed up and nearly hit the troopers' car, before leaving the gas station onto 8 Mile Road near the Southfield Freeway, police said.

Troopers then tried to stop the pickup truck, but the truck sped off, police said.
Troopers chased the pickup truck north onto the Lodge Freeway, where the suspected thief then exited onto northbound Telegraph Road and turned the pickup truck's headlights off, police said.

The pickup truck then made a U-trun onto southbound on Telegraph Road and entered the northbound lanes on the Lodge Freeway, while driving south with its headlights off, police said.
The pickup truck then struck a 2011 GMC Terrain head-on near Civic Center Drive in Southfield, police said.
A 45-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman who were in the Terrain were killed in the crash, police said. Both were from Farmington Hills.
The suspected thief, a 35-year-old man from Romulus and the passenger, a 29-year-old woman from Detroit, were taken to a nearby hospital where they were listed in serious condition, but expected to survive, police said.
Police are still investigating the crash and are expected to send over their findings to the Oakland County Prosecutor for review.
