3 Arraigned in Farmington Hills Bus Stop Robbery

Three suspects who allegedly shook down three teens while they waited for the school bus in Farmington Hills remain in jail.

Farmington Hills, MI - Three people have been charged with unarmed robbery after allegedly shaking down three teenagers Thursday as they waited at a Farmington Hills school bus stop for the bus to take them to school.

Ronnie Lapere, 23, of Farmington Hills; Andrew Depa, 21, of Redford Township; and Taylor Beaty, 20, of Wayne each face three counts of unarmed robbery in connection with the incident.

The three were arraigned on Thursday, Dec. 3, before 47th District Court Magistrate Michael Sawicki, who set bond at $200,000, $250,000 and $100,000, respectively. The three suspects are being held in the Oakland County Jail.

They were taken into custody shortly after the incident, which occurred about 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 3, in the area of Sedalia Avenue and Ontaga Street. The three allegedly took the teens’ school backpacks, then returned them with nothing taken.

Farmington Hills Investigative Lt. Paul Nicholas told Patch last week he couldn’t speculate on what motivated the alleged thieves to return the backpacks.

“Who knows what the thought process was there?” Nicholas said. “It certainly is an usual circumstances for someone to grab someone’s property and return it.”

The three are to appear at the 47th District Court for a pre-examination conference at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 23.
