Adat Shalom Cantor Dan Gross Performs Dec. 13 at The Berman

Dan Gross, cantor of Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills joins local jazz legends Cliff Monear, Paul Keller and Sean Dobbins on Dec. 13, for an evening of celebration and song through music of the season and the American songbook. 

"Candlelight Cabaret" with Cantor Dan Gross and the Cliff Monear Trio will feature a program ranging from cool, jazzy music to old holiday classics, starting at 7:30 p.m., at The Berman Center for the Performing Arts, 6600 W. Maple in West Bloomfield. 

Born in Boston and raised in St. Louis, Gross studied at the University of Pennsylvania, Manhattan School of Music, The Juilliard School, and The Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2006 and has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Symphony.

As part of the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, Gross has presented Schumann’s “Dichterliebe” with pianist James Tocco, Barber’s “Dover Beach” with the Attacca Quartet, and Brahms Duets with his wife, soprano Lauren Skuce. His oratorio, I Believe - A Shoah Requiem, will have its world premiere at Orchestra Hall in Detroit on Yom HaShoah, April 7, 2013.

Cliff Monear is a product of the Berklee College of Music. His jazz group, the Cliff Monear Trio, is one of the busiest performing rhythm sections in the Midwest. In addition to performing and teaching, Monear is the exclusive Steinway & Sons representative for the Michigan jazz community.
