Armed Man Arrested After Woman Texts 911 On I-75 In Oakland Co.: Cops

A woman texted 911 that she was assaulted by an armed man inside a car that was on Interstate 75 in Oakland County, police said.

HOLLY, MI — An armed man was arrested early Friday morning after a woman texted 911 while inside a car with the man on Interstate 75 in Oakland County, according to Michigan State Police.

The woman texted officers that she was assaulted by a man who was armed with a gun inside a maroon Malibu that was moving north on Interstate 75 near Mile Marker 93 at 4:20 a.m. Friday morning, according to police.

Troopers found the Malibu and stopped it on the freeway at Lahring Road, near Holly, according to police.

While troopers spoke with the driver of the Malibu, they asked the woman in the front seat to get out of the car, according to police.

Once she was out of the car, the woman told troopers the man had put the gun under his seat, according to police.

Troopers then ordered the driver and two other passengers out of the car, according to police.

The driver, a 42-year-old man, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault, according to police.

Troopers also found a Walther 9mm pistol on the floor of the Malibu near the driver's seat, according to police.

The woman was treated at the scene for her injuries and refused to go to the hospital, according to police.

Police did not release the suspect's name and prosecutors were reviewing the incident.
