Since its introduction in 2002, Art from the Heart has become one of the most celebrated student programs at DCDS. Representatives from the Childrenβs Hospital of Michigan hand pick each piece from students in every grade level at the annual βCelebrate the Artsβ festival hosted by the DCDS Friends of the Arts each spring. Since the program started, more than 525 pieces of artwork now line the hallways and patient rooms at the Childrenβs Hospital of Michigan.
Each year, DCDS Friends of the Arts provides a grant to frame the studentsβ creations and hosts the preview event for the student artists and their families. Friends of the Arts supports the Fine and Performing Arts curriculum, activities and programs of the students attending DCDS. For more information, visit www.dcds.edu.
