Auditions Open for Farmington Hills Youth Choir
The choir is open to students of all experience levels, in grades 6-12.

Auditions for the Farmington Hills Youth Choir, open to anyone in grades 6-12, will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Visitors Center in , 24915 Farmington Road.
Beginning singers and more experienced vocalists may audition; nothing needs to be prepared ahead of time.
Students will rehearse in the Men’s Glee Club, Ladies Ensemble, and the Mixed Ensemble. Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays, from Sept. 20 to Dec. 13, with varying times for each ensemble. A performance will take place on Thursday, Dec. 22 at the .

According to FHYC member Madi Abel, “Youth Choir is a great way to meet new friends and be with old friends. One of my favorite things we do is laugh!”
The choir offers an opportunity for learning, while enjoying the camaraderie of other youth. In addition to rehearsals and performances, activities will include a professional photo shoot in October and a flash mob performance in December.

The Farmington Hills Youth Choir, a City of Farmington Hills Cultural Arts program, was created in 2007 to give area youth the opportunity to learn about choral technique, sight reading, and performance, while having fun with their peers. The Choir has performed at the Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings “Holiday Brass” concert, the State Capitol tree lighting ceremony, and the Farmington Hills “Holiday Lights” ceremony. They have also shared the stage for selected numbers with the Farmington Community Chorus.
Choir director Brian Christian holds a master’s degree in music from the University of Michigan and is a vocal instructor in the Farmington Public Schools. Christian also leads the Farmington Hills Choraliers, a non-audition choir for singers in grades 3-5. The Choraliers rehearse on Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. at the , from Sept. 24-Dec. 17, and will also take part in the performance on Dec. 22 at the Farmington Players Barn Theatre.
