Botsford Black Tie Event Sets Records for the Farmington Hills Non-profit

The fundraiser nets more than $260,000 to support the hospital and its services.

The Botsford Foundation’s 2011 fall gala established new records for the organization, in terms of sponsors, attendees and fundraising.

The Foundation held its sixth annual Autumn Gala at the MGM Grand Hotel on Saturday, Nov. 12. The black-tie event attracted more than 550 guests who were treated to an evening of fine dining, dancing and a silent auction. The Gala raised more than $260,000 to support programs and services.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Botsford Hospital Medical Staff Distinguished Service Award to William D. Strampel, D.O., Dean of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) with appreciation for his vision and leadership in creating an invaluable partnership between MSUCOM and Botsford that has enhanced osteopathic medical education and health care delivery. The event also honored eight members of the hospital’s Medical Staff who completed 25 years of service at Botsford during 2011.

The evening’s theme was George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” which was reflected in the music, lighting, and table decorations selected for the event. Describing the event, Gerson I. Cooper, President, The Botsford Foundation, noted, “The success of the Gala is a tribute to the generosity of our physicians and physician practices, our medical partners and vendors, and all of our friends who share a commitment to Botsford Hospital and the communities we serve.”
