The Michigan War Dog Memorial found a benefactor from Albuquerque, NM by the name of Jo Johnson.
Johnson said, "I saw the article about Sgt. Sparks in The United States War Dog Association Newsletter and couldn't help myself to help your group (I cried when I read it). I decided to donate the entire amount for the headstone."
She also has a retired MWD Aron/F300 out of Kirkland AFB, NM. who was TDY to Ba'Qubah, Iraq. That is how she found out what Military Working Dogs do when they are active duty such as; guarding the Dalai Lama, and clearing hotel rooms for visiting dignitaries and other high-profile visitors and citizens.

Jo Johnson, said, "On July 15, 2011, I brought Aron, a 9 yr. old German Shepherd MWD (Retired) to his forever home. He's been absolutely wonderful as a pet and companion - very gentle and loving with those he's been properly introduced to. He's brought so much joy to my life - can't imagine what I did without him! I'd love to hear from any of his military handlers & Aron would love to see his former handlers again, I'm sure. The Kennel Master and the Veterinarian at his former base know how to contact me...let them know you'd like to visit Aron and that can be easily arranged."
Here is a great story from one of Aron's Handlers, Robert Black
