Celebrate spring as St. John Music Director Sean Michael Jackman (piano and organ) along with Daniel Winnick (violin) and other musical friends will present a concert of music for Springtime. All are welcome and there is no charge for this event. A free will offering will be received to help support music programs at St. John. A reception will follow. Enjoy spring treats and meet the artists.

Medieval Tavern Feast and Revelry! Monday April 20, 2026An Ancient 5 Course Dinner with&nbsp;Specialty Exclusive Medieval Fermented Beverages
-Come join us for some of the finest offerings from taverns during the medieval times! Travel back with us in time 1000 years to explore historically accurate menu offerings from around the world as they would have so long ago! We will also be working with Farmington Brewing to craft some amazing historically accurate brews to feature as well! Ticket price includes a 5-course plated meal with each course paired with a 4 oz. beer/beverage and an additional pint of your choice to be enjoyed that evening or on a date in the future!



Menu:

1: Frumenty with Erbolate
Wheat berry porridge served with a type of crustless herbed quiche.
2: Forager Salad
Foraged wild greens including primrose, dandelion and other available mixed greens, edible flowers, mushrooms and vegetables served with a simple vinaigrette dressing.
3: Lamb Stew OR Cabbage Pottage
Meat or Vegetarian option, in medieval times the stew choice might have been between royalty and peasant! A thick simmering lamb stew or a hearty Cabbage soup served with crusty bread.
4: Stuffed Pork Loin, Apple Muse &amp; Armored Turnips
A medieval preparation of roasted pork loin, apple muse is a side dish of apple puree, almond milk, honey &amp; saffron with thinly sliced turnips layered with cheese and baked until bubbly and browned.
5: Payne Foundewe
A medieval preparation on bread pudding - Fried bread in grease, red wine, spices, raisins, and honey, ground together and baked, served with a sweet cream sauce, anise, coriander, and sugar.

Several times a year we offer a speaker series in which we hear from people working The Peace within our community and explore ways that we can live out our call to love God and our neighbors, acting on our values of&nbsp;Compassion, Mercy, Justice, Forgiveness and Grace.&nbsp;
What does it mean to be welcoming? On April 23rd, St. John welcomes Sarah Maria Acosta Ahmad, Healing and Community Justice Director from&nbsp;Centro Multicultural La Familia, to share how communities can support immigrant justice and inclusion.
​We begin with a light meal at 6:00 pm, and follow with a presentation and Q&amp;A. This free event is open to all and offers a valuable opportunity to engage, learn, and reflect on strengthening communities. Child care can be provided on request. Please register in advance on our website.

Garden Swap - all are welcome!
Are your perennials crowded? Have some gardening books and tools just taking us space? Sowed too many tomatoes? Have more seeds than you could ever plant? Cuttings looking for a new home?
Load up the car and join us for a garden swap! Share what you have and maybe go home with some new plants or garden goodies! Help grow some gardens and grow some community too!
How does the garden swap work? We ask participants to come with the plants, seeds, tools, books, etc. they are willing to share freely. Find new homes for the garden goodies you no longer need or use, and find some new garden goodies for your home!
Where does this event take place? If the weather is nice, we will set up in the garden area along the south side of the building. If the weather is inclement, we will more to an indoor space.
What should I bring? Definitely: garden things you'd like to share. Helpful: chair, sun protection, water, boxes for transporting, blanket/table to display your garden goodies, maybe some snacks(?)
Anything I shouldn't bring? Invasive or diseased plants! Check out this invasive plant guide from the State of Michigan for more information:&nbsp;<a href="https://www.michigan.gov/invasives/id-report/plants" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">michigan.gov/invasives/id-report/plants</a> Also, we love all pups, but we'd prefer they stay home for this event.
How accessible is the garden area? There is a freshly paved drive along the garden, and limited parking spaces on the paved surface available. Bathrooms are in the building, a short walk from the garden along paved surfaces with no steps required.
This event is during my dinner time! Ours too! Don't worry, we'll have some snacks and refreshments. Folks are welcome to bring their own personal food, or something to share, but it is by no means required or expected.
I'm not sure what color my thumb is, but I don't think it's green. Can I still come? Gardeners of all types and abilities are welcome. We also will be hosting a series of gardening classes as well as weekly garden gatherings for those looking for some guidance or community.

Swedish Club of Southeastern Michigan

On Saturday, May 16th, we’ll observe Norway’s biggest holiday, Syttende Mai, with a festive parade, music, games, and picnic foods at the Swedish Club.&nbsp;&nbsp;We'll have Norwegian food imports and gift items for sale.The parade around the clubhouse starts at 11:30 a.m. followed by a talk by the Honorary Consul from Norway to Michigan, Dennis Flessland. 
We’ll fly the Norwegian flag, sing the Norwegian national anthem, turn out in bunads, and enjoy Scandinavian music, picnic foods, and Norwegian heart waffles.Then we’ll have the games for young and old.
A complimentary dessert and coffee buffet will follow the games.
Admission is $5 payable at the door.Children 5 years of age and younger are free.This includes pølse (hot dogs), chips, soft drinks, Norwegian heart waffles with jam and sour cream, and desserts.The event will conclude by 3 p.m.
