Cell Tower Will Bring More Revenue to Farmington
Besides one-time $50,000 payment, school district will get at least $1,800 a month in lease payments.

FARMINGTON, MI β Farmington Public Schools will receive a one-time $50,000 payment and monthly lease payments of at least $1,800 under an agreement with wireless provider Verizon to allow a new cell tower.
The 120-foot tower on the grounds of North Farmington High School is the second approved by the school board in recent years, The Farmington Observer reports. Five years ago, the school board allowed AT&T to erect a tower on the North Farmington High grounds.

Under agreement approved by the school board last week, the monthly $1,800 lease payment will increase by 2.5 percent each year after the first year of the five-year lease. At the end of the five-year period, the lease may be renewed.
Besides providing revenue for the school district, the tower is expected to approve connectivity, district facilities management director John Riebe told the school board.
