Man Shoots Oakland County Chipotle Worker Over Guacamole Order: Police

Police said the shooter was upset over an extra order of guacamole.

SOUTHFIELD, MI — A Chipotle employee was injured in a Friday shooting inside a Southfield restaurant, according to police.

Officers found the 21-year-old employee suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg inside the Chipotle restaurant Evergreen near Civic Center Drive at 6:50 p.m. Friday, according to police.

The employee, a Detroit resident, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and was listed in stable condition, according to police.

The shooter ran away from the restaurant after the incident, according to police.

Minutes after the shooting, officers arrested the suspected shooter, 32-year-old Aaron Brown of Detroit, in connection with the shooting without incident, according to police.

Brown was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, weapons – discharge in or at a building causing injury and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was placed in the Oakland County Jail on a $20,000 bond. His next court date was scheduled for April 17.

Police said Brown and his wife walked into the restaurant and placed an order Friday afternoon. Brown then asked for extra guacamole, but he was upset with the extra serving, believing it was too small of an amount of guacamole, according to police.

Brown then walked behind the counter and started packing his order along with some guacamole, according to police.

When workers tried to stop Brown, a fight broke out and Brown eventually fired a shot from a handgun, striking a worker in the knee, according to police.

Brown then calmly grabbed his food and left the restaurant, according to police.

Brown does have a permit to carry a concealed weapon and did not have any prior criminal convictions, according to police.

Police believe the victim will make a full recovery.
