Commissioner, Miss Oakland County Share Teddy Bear Memory
Makayla McCoskey of Farmington Hills gave former police chief Bill Dwyer the bear after she won a safety poster contest 11 years ago.
When her entry won the Farmington Hills Police Department Safety Poster Contest 11 years ago, 9-year-old Makayla McCoskey gave then-Police Chief Bill Dwyer a teddy bear and hand-written note, to say thank you.
On Oct. 2, Dwyer, who is now an Oakland County commissioner, brought the bear to a commission meeting during which McCoskey was honored as Miss Oakland County 2013. County officials issued a proclamation recognizing her July title win.
