Crime Report: Farmington Hills Business Reports Second Air Conditioner Theft
The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A second air conditioning unit has been stolen from an Orchard Lake Rd. business that reported a similar theft in late May. According to a report filed with the , copper lines were cut to free the unit from the building. The theft was discovered on Monday.
Narcotics-related arrests
A 35-year-old Clinton Township man faces charges of driving while intoxicated and marijuana possession, after a traffic stop at 12 Mile and Orchard Lake early Tuesday morning. According to the report, an officer patrolling on 12 Mile watched as the driver changed lanes in front of him without signalling, then traveled 68 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone. A preliminary breath test showed the man's blood alcohol was .119, more than the .08 legal limit. A search of the vehicle turned up a marijuana pipe and a case containing a scale, box of sandwich bags and nearly 42 grams of marijuana. The driver also had an expired medical marijuana card and an application for renewal in the car.
A 32-year-old Milford man was free on bond after police found marijuana in his car following a traffic stop at M-5 and Orchard Lake around 10:18 p.m. Monday. According to the report, the officer who stopped the vehicle spotted Zig Zag cigarillo packages on the rear seat, and a passenger in the car, a 26-year-old Wixom woman, later covered them with clothing. Her actions prompted the officer to call in a K-9 unit, which uncovered a plastic bag of marijuana in the vehicle's center console. The man faces charges of driving with a suspended license and marijuana possession.

A 52-year-old Farmington Hills man, who neighbors reported as being disorderly, faces charges of possessing a controlled substance and narcotics paraphernalia. According to the report, police following up on an anonymous call Sunday evening learned the Haynes St. resident had outstanding warrants out of Dearborn and Detroit. When they searched the man, they found Xanax and Vicodin in his pocket. A search of the home turned up spoons, cotton and a syringe, along with four packages containing heroin residue, the report indicated.
Thefts from autos
A local woman told police that sometime between 8 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, someone stole a silver purse containing credit cards and identification from inside her car while it was parked at a residence on Orchard Lake Rd. According to the report, the passenger side window was smashed to gain entry.

The owner of a Buck Skylark parked on Halsted Sunday told police someone took the catalytic converter from his car. According to the report, the vehicle was parked Saturday evening, and the owner discovered the theft the next morning after noticing the vehicle sounded extremely loud.
Counterfeit bill passed
The manager of a fast food restaurant on 10 Mile told police someone passed a counterfeit $20 sometime between 10 a.m. and noon on Monday. According to the report, the bill was discovered when a register was emptied of excess cash, which is done periodically during the day.
Drunken driving arrests
A 37-year-old Farmington Hills man faces a charge of driving while under the influence, after an officer stopped his vehicle for running a flashing red light at I-696 and Orchard Lake early Sunday morning. According to the report, the officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants, but the driver refused to take a preliminary breath test. Police obtained a warrant for a blood test.
A 29-year-old Midland man who told police he was distracted by his phone faces charges of driving under the influence following a traffic stop at I-696 and Orchard Lake early Sunday morning. According to the report, an officer traveling east on I-696 stopped the vehicle after seeing it drifting between lanes. A preliminary breath test showed the man's blood alcohol was .094.
A security guard at a business on Sunrise called police early Saturday morning, after a vehicle hit a guard shack on the property. According to the report, the guard spoke with the driver, a 36-year-old West Bloomfield Township man, who walked away from the scene. Police later found him walking on Hills Tech Drive. The man had a cut on his mouth, which precluded him from taking a preliminary breath test, so he was taken to Botsford Hospital for a blood test. In addition to possible drunken driving charges, the man was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident. He posted bond and was released to his wife.
Attempted vehicle theft
A resident who lives on 13 Mile contacted police Saturday afternoon, when he discovered that the ignition on his Suzuki scooter had been damaged. According to the report, the owner left the scooter parked in front of his residence at 10 p.m. Friday and discovered the damage the next morning.
