Crime Report: Men Say iPhones Taken at Gunpoint During Hotel Party in Farmington Hills

Two men from Farmington Hills and Highland Park told police that armed men held them at gunpoint during a party at a hotel on 12 Mile at around 2:14 a.m. Tuesday.
According to a report filed with , the party was listed on a website, and after the two arrived, three suspects entered the room. One pulled out a gun and demanded the men turn over their iPhones and other valuables. The three men were described as between 19 and 25 years of age; one was around five-foot-seven and the other two were around six feet tall.
Breaking and entering
- An employee at Beechview Swim Club called police after someone broke into the club's locked office on Sunday. According to the report, a rear office window was forced open. A public address microphone and a stand with a signal splitter box was taken, along with three award plaques.
- Employees coming in to work at Siam Spicy on Northwestern Sunday morning found someone had smashed a window to the right of the front door to get into the store. According to the report, $150 was taken from the cash register.
House party violation
Police were called to a home on Edgemoor early Sunday morning, after a parent called police to report her 14-year-old daughter told her she had been drinking during a party there. According to the report, the homeowners told police they knew their sons were having a party, and while officers observed alcohol at the party, no one appeared intoxicated. Minors who were at the party were turned over to an adult who took them home. Police ticketed the homeowners for having an open house party with drinking involved.

Narcotics arrests
- A 27-year-old Auburn Hills man faces charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics and possession of heroin and narcotics paraphernalia, following a four-car accident at 12 Mile and New Market around 4 p.m. July 11. According to the report, police received an anonymous tip about a vehicle hitting a cement barrier on I-696, then exiting at Orchard Lake Rd. Shortly after, calls came in about a hit-and-run accident. An officer found the vehicle that left the scene parked behind Heartland Marketplace, with heavy front end damage, a missing front tire and fluids leaking. The report indicated that a search of the vehicle uncovered a small plastic bag containing suspected heroin and a "snorting straw" with suspected heroin residue on the ends. The man was also ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident.
- An 18-year-old Madison Heights woman and an 18-year-old Farmington Hills man both face charges of marijuana possession, narcotics paraphernalia possession and loitering, after an officer spotted their vehicles parked at Harrison High School shortly after midnight on Saturday. According to the report, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana while talking with the pair and saw a metal marijuana grinder sitting on the center console cup holder. A search of the vehicle turned up two marijuana cigarettes and a marijuana bud in the front pocket of the woman's purse.
- A 46-year-old Livonia man faces charges after a traffic stop at Eight Mile and Middlebelt around 8:40 p.m. on Monday. According to the report, his vehicle's windshield was cracked, and a check on its registration showed the driver had an outstanding warrant. A search of the vehicle turned up a bottle of 10 hydrocodone (a generic form of Vicodin) pills. The driver was also ticketed for no proof of insurance and vision obstruction created by the cracked windshield, the report indicated.
Drunken driving arrests
- A 28-year-old Detroit woman faces a charge of drunken driving after an officer watched her vehicle swerving on Middlebelt near 12 Mile at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday. According to the report, the woman told the officer she was looking at her phone, but the officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants. A preliminary breath test showed the woman's blood alcohol level was .11, which is more than the .08 legal limit.
- A 37-year-old Dearborn Heights man faces a charge of drunken driving after an officer found his vehicle parked and running on the M-5 shoulder at around 4:45 a.m. Sunday. According to the report, the vehicle had sustained damage to the front fender and passenger door, and the front passenger tire was flat. The driver had an abrasion on his cheek. A preliminary breath test showed his blood alcohol level was .21, which is more than twice the .08 legal limit.
Bicycle accident
Two people stopped an officer at 11 Mile Ct. and Halsted Monday evening, after seeing a woman fall off her bicycle onto the sidewalk. According to the report, the 58-year-old Farmington Hills woman suffered abrasions to her feet, hands and arms and a bruise on the corner of her left eye. The officer also reported the woman had signs of memory loss and disorientation, along with trouble balancing as she tried to stand. She was transported to Botsford Hospital.
