Day Camp Kids Evacuated Before Man Kills Himself at Park
Farmington Hills police got a call Friday morning about a despondent man at Heritage Park, where about 80 kids were attending a summer camp.

Farmington Hills, MI — A tense situation in a Farmington Hills park that forced the removal of about 80 people who were attending a summer camp ended Friday afternoon when a "despondent" man killed himself in his vehicle, police said.
As police tried to talk to the man, who had parked his car at Heritage Park, the children were evacuated as a precaution, according to a news release.

The children were safely away from the park when the man killed himself.

The Farmington Hills Police Department got a call about 11 a.m. that a despondent man was in his vehicle. Police tried to talk to him, but he "utilized a firearm to take his own life," according to the release.
The park will remained closed for several hours.
