Enjoy 'Guys Night Out' at The Shirt Box

The event will include cigars and a raffle benefit for prostate cancer awareness.

Does your ideal Father’s Day look something like this: no lawn to mow, no errands to run, nothing but a good cigar, a good drink and the ease of hanging out with the guys?

There’ll be all that and more at during Late Night at The Box, held on June 16, 6-8 p.m.

β€œIn celebrating our 30th year in business, we want to offer unique opportunities for men to spend time doing things they love,” founder Ron Elkus said. β€œLate Night at the Box is a chance to connect with friends and kick back. Time alone is a great gift for dads.”

The event will include:

  • A Movado β€œBold” as raffle prize from Tapper’s plus some Tapper’s gift cards
  • Cigars and accessories from Churchill’s
  • Raffle tickets of $5 each or 5 for $25 – all money raised goes to Prostate Cancer Awareness and EducationAll attendees on June 16 will receive one free raffle ticket in addition to those they purchase

At the event, Elkus and co-owner Rod Brown will ramp up the search for their β€œBe The Next Shirt Box Model! Contest” to find every-day Joes to model in a 30th anniversary calendar; proceeds will benefit prostate treatment and education. The calendar, which will debut at a Sept. 22 anniversary gala fundraiser, will feature β€œreal” models from among Shirt Box shoppers.

The β€œBe The Next Shirt Box Model! Contest,” runs through July 15. Anyone can nominate a father, friend, husband or uncle by sending an email to theshirtbox@sbcglobal.net with the following information: nominee’s name, city of residence, phone and email, and a brief explanation about why he is the perfect Shirt Box model. (All nominees will receive a $20 Shirt Box gift card.)

The Shirt Box anniversary fundraiser gala on Sept. 22 will be an elegant evening fundraiser honoring the Chaldean Chamber’s Martin Manna, author and Wall Street Journal writer Jeff Zaslow and Channel 2’s Huel Perkins. Jack Detroit Magazine is a media sponsor of the event.

In 30 years of providing fashion to the men of metro Detroit, The Shirt Box has always supported the surrounding community.Β  Its founder, Ron Elkus, and co-owner, Rod Brown, are actively involved in a variety of causes.
