Axis Music Foundation at the school’s Student Showcase / Axis Music Fundraiser at Uptown Grille in Commerce on June 3

Students from Axis Music Academy’s three locations, Southfield, Canton and Birmingham, will take the stage to raise money and awareness for the Axis Music Foundation at the school’s Student Showcase / Fundraiser at Uptown Grille in Commerce on Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Axis Music Foundation is a non-profit, 501 c.3 organization, established in Spring of 2012, to help raise funding, resources and awareness of the importance of music education for students of all ages, levels and backgrounds.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will fund students in an innovative pilot program that teaches music recording and production to teenagers with autism.

“Many of these students find it severely challenging to get up and perform in front of an audience,” says Andrea George, Director of Marketing and Events Coordinator for Axis Music Academy. “The idea of this program is to tap into their creative ability in a focused and productive manner and build their confidence through the creative process.”

The program, designed by Axis Music Academy, is sponsored by Axis Music Foundation. The pilot program will be co-taught by local veteran musicians and music educators Charlie Grover and George Friend. Both have taught and developed innovative, nationally recognized music curriculums, and Grover is an Apple-certified master trainer. Participants for the program will be organized in cooperation with the non-profit organization Wish Upon a Teen.

“Wish Upon a Teen is proud to announce the launch of the All Axis Kids music program for teens who have a love for music and computers,” says Michelle Soto, founder of Wish Upon a Team. “By partnering with the Axis Music Foundation, we are able to provide teens with an innovative technological experience all while learning to work together with other teens with similar backgrounds to build friendships and provide a fabulous team building experience.”

Several business and personalities will be contributing to the success of the fundraiser by donating prizes and giveaways, including merchandise and gift cards from Guitar Center, a Detroit Pistons signed basketball, Detroit Tiger Baseball tickets, free Vitamin Water by Glaceau, free “rock-star makeovers” by Maalouf Salon of Birmingham, limited supply gift bags, and much more.

The Student Showcase is a great way for parents and students considering entering a music education program to see the dynamic performances that Axis Music instructors are able to produce with students. Axis Music Academy has the only certified music program in Michigan, and is known for being the place where anyone can learn to play, sing, compose, record and perform.

“We are very excited about the Music Foundation’s involvement in a variety of charitable activities and causes,” says Axis Founder and CEO, John Antone. “Spread the word. This Student Showcase will be an event not to miss.
