The Art and Math of Origami:

Today origami is a very broad field: encompassing not just traditional cranes, but also modular works, tessellations, with curved and wet folding. We'll begin by viewing Between the Folds, a 55 minute Independent Lens documentary following 10 paper artists. Then on to try paper folding. Come early to see Elise's collection. Instructor: Elise Gregory23, has folded origami since kindergarten. As an engineer with a strong creative side, she finds origami to be a unique and fascinating combination of the two.

Two Birds: On the Psycho-dynamics of Mystical Experience:

“Two birds live on the same tree. One bird eats the fruit of pleasure and pain. The other looks on without eating.” This image, from the Hindu Upanishads, holds the key to understanding the psychodynamics of mystical experience. This class looks to trace the universality of this phenomenon across a number of mystical traditions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Sufism, and Christianity. Instructor: Alex Riegel is Minister of the Universalist Unitarian Church of Farmington. He holds a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Theology from Harvard Divinity School. Alex is also co-facilitator of The Inner Enneagram Center.

Present Moment Meditation:

Enjoy peaceful meditations and be gently guided to a quiet place within yourself. Learn simple tools for staying calm and present throughout your day. Present Moment Meditation uses a practical, light-hearted approach that makes meditating inviting and beneficial for everyone. Chairs provided.  Instructor: Kathy Henning has 35 years’ experience in the areas of meditation and self-discovery. She is a teacher, speaker, and founder of Present Moment Meditation, CUUPS and other groups in addition to 30 years as a practicing Zen Buddhist.
