Ex-Farmington Hills Cop In Court on Child Porn Charges

Matthew Parsons, who is charged with multiple child pornography and computer crimes, waived his right to a speedy preliminary exam.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – In a brief court appearance in 51st District Court Monday, the former Farmington Hills police officer facing multiple child pornography chargesΒ waived his right to a speedy preliminary examination.

Nearly a dozen sexually explicit videos were discovered on veteran police officer Matthew Parsons’ computer, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said last month. Parsons, 48, of Waterford, was immediately placed on administrative leave and has since resigned.

Parsons’ preliminary exam on 13 counts of computer and pornograpy charges is now scheduled for July 1, The Farmington Observer reports.

Besides allegedly using his electronic devices to download child pornography, Parsons is accused of secretly filming an adult in the nude.

Parsons, a divorced father of two, had been a Farmington Hills police officer for about 20 years. In a statement, Police Chief Chuck Nebus said the allegations were β€œshocking and devastating.”
