From the Farmington Hills Fire Department: On Wednesday, December 7, members of the Farmington Hills Firefighters Association presented a check for $2,277 to the Botsford Foundation. The funds were designated for the Botsford Cancer Center to help defer costs for patient tests, treatments, and recovery. On hand for the presentation were members of Farmington Hills Local 2659 and Botsford Foundation administrators.

The funds were raised through the sale of special Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirts created by the Fire Department. The awareness efforts and t-shirt sales were spearheaded by Senior Fire Fighters Colin Brennan and Robin Chevrette. As part of the accompanying public education campaign, Brennan and Chevrette presented t-shirts to Farmington Hills City Council members and accepted a proclamation from Mayor Ken Massey recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness month

Throughout the month of October, all Farmington Hills fire fighters, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics wore the Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirts, along with pink gloves. The t-shirts were on sale to the public at the Annual Fire Prevention Open House, which was held on October 7 and attended by over 500 people.
