Farmington Hills Firm's Product Aims to 'Get On the Shelf' Nation-wide

A Farmington Hills-based company's product is vying for a spot in one of the country's largest retail chains, and local residents can support them via social media.

UrthTech's new all-in-one cleaning system, Urth Select™, is competing in Walmartʼs "Get On The Shelf" contest with hopes of winning shelf space in Walmart stores across the country and placement on Walmart.com. The competition showcases approximately 4,000 new products from entrepreneurs across the country, but the local company is confident its product will come out on top because of itʼs ability to (literally) lighten the load of an everyday task — home cleaning.

Packaged as a lightweight sprayer with two quick release bottles, Urth Select™ features a multi-select dial that allows users to quickly switch among three household cleaners: disinfectant, multi-surface, and glass. Each click changes the dilution of UrthTechʼs internationally patented cleaning solution and enables home cleaning to be done without ever switching bottles. Urth™ is also ecofriendly.

The refillable water chamber and replaceable cleaning cartridge equate to a 90 percent waste reduction per year, when compared with traditional disposable cleaners. 

Two rounds of public voting via Facebook and text message will determine the contest winner. The first round began March 7 and will run through April 3 to determine the top 10 products, who will then compete in a second round of voting from April 11-April 24.
