Farmington Hills Police Investigate Drakes Crossing Break-Ins

No one was at home when the day-time incidents occurred.

The Farmington Hills Police Department issued a Nixle.com alert Friday evening about several home invasions in the Drakes Crossing condominium complex, located north of Grand River and east of Halsted.

The incidents occurred between 7 a.m. and noon; the homes were not occupied during the break-ins. Suspects gained entry by prying rear sliding doors, the report indicated.

Police are looking for a black man in his early 20’s with an athletic build, wearing dark clothing and a winter hat with ear flaps, as well as a silver or gray PT Cruiser.

The department's Crime Prevention Section offers the following tips for preventing similar crimes:

  • Whenever possible, secure all doors and windows, whether you're or not you're at home.
  • Reinforce sliding doors and windows with track bars or sliding track locking devices.
  • Stay alert to all suspicious people and activities in your neighborhood and call 911 whenever you observe such activity.

Anyone with information about the Friday break-ins is asked to call the Farmington Hills Police Department command desk, 248-871-2610.
