Farmington Hills Resident Reports Unsolicited Marijuana Seed Mailings

The following information was supplied by the Farmington Hills Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A Farmington Hills resident contacted police on Monday night to report the delivery of a package containing marijuana seeds, which he did not order.

According to the report, this was the second time a package containing seeds has been mailed to his home on Nine Mile Road since he moved in. The report indicated the package was sent via "Airsure Royal Mail", with no return address. The seeds were turned over to police. 

Thefts from vehicles

  • The driver of a Freightliner truck parked in the 32000 block of Eight Mile Road called police early Tuesday morning to report the theft of three batteries. According to the report, the batteries were taken sometime between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, from an unlocked compartment. The driver told police three batteries were also stolen between Jan. 24 and Jan. 25, the report indicated. 
  • A resident in the 24000 block of Buchanan contacted police Jan. 30 to report the theft of items from her vehicle sometime between 11 p.m. Jan. 28 and 6:15 a.m. Jan. 29. According to the report, the vehicle owner said she did not lock the doors. Items taken included a laptop computer and iPhone charger, the report indicated. 

Vehicle theft

A man who parked his Jeep Cherokee in the lot of a restaurant on Haggerty Friday evening returned to find the vehicle had been taken. According to the report, the theft occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 11:06 p.m., and there were no witnesses.

Theft from mailbox

A resident who lives in the 28000 block of Rockledge Drive called police Friday, after a package containing a $150 watch was stolen from her mailbox. According to the report, the woman told police she placed the package out with other mail and later noticed the mailbox was open, but the flag was still up, indicating the mail carrier had not yet come by. She found the package missing, but the other mail was still inside the box, the report indicated. 

Breaking and entering, burglary

  • The owner of a home on Old Bedford Road called police Monday morning to report the theft of a generator from his garage. According to the report, the man last saw the generator on Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. Police found no sign of forced entry; the home is for sale and has been shown by a number of real estate agents, the report indicated.
  • More than $12,000 worth of items, including a laptop computer, jewelry and a video game system, were reported stolen Friday morning from a home in the 28000 block of Ramblewood Drive. According to the report, the homeowner identified a potential suspect. 

Marijuana possession charged

A 24-year-old Detroit man faces a charge of marijuana possession, following a traffic stop at 12 Mile and Orchard Lake Roads around 1:45 a.m. Monday. According to the report, an officer stopped the man's vehicle for disregarding a stoplight on the I-696 ramp. The driver wasn't able to produce identification, and the officer reported a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The man told police that he was on his way to Henry Ford Hospital at Drake and Maple, because of kidney stone pain, the report indicated. Police found a small bag of marijuana inside the car. The man declined an offer to take him to a hospital, and instead asked to call a friend for bond money.
